Meet Lisa

My name is Lisa Rivard, and I am running for State Representative in Belknap District 6. I moved to Gilford as a child in the mid-80's and have called the Lakes Region home ever since. I attended Gilford Middle High School and graduated from Lakes Region Community College, where I earned degrees in accounting and computer science. I was a payroll accountant until I had back surgery and was forced into early retirement.

Not one to sit still, I decided to go back to school and rather than complete my CPA wanted to pursue my passion for psychology. I obtained a BS in psychology with a minor in criminal justice and a master’s in forensic psychology. I am currently completing a PhD in forensic psychology. While doing so, I came to the realization that my education might help the people in my own community, not just distant medical journals. To be clear, I am not a politician, just a concerned neighbor who thinks things could be run a bit better in Belknap.

Why I am Running

I am running for state representative because Belknap County does not have a voice in Concord. In 2026 our representatives only showed up to 69% percent of roll call votes. A representative needs to be there in order to represent us. I want to bring our collective voices to Concord. More importantly, I want to help preserve our Lakes Region way of life. We must protect the lakes and mountains, not only are they our home but our most valuable assets.

We also need to find ways to increase housing availability and protect our schools, so our community is one where people want and are able to stay with their families. Lastly, we must prevent local control from being stolen by the Free State Project, who tried to sell Gunstock right out from under us. We have to remove their foothold in Belknap County. Together we can do all of these things. Join me!
